Weaverville hosted a retirement ceremony Friday evening for Police Chief Alan Wyatt, who is retiring after more than a dozen years with the town.
Wyatt, who was promoted to chief last December, served in the Air Force before working in Weaverville.
“It has been my pleasure and my honor to serve the people of Weaverville,” Wyatt said at his party. “There’s fine people. If nobody’s ever been here, they need to come and visit.”
Wyatt, who is originally from Chicago, first visited Weaverville in 1984 and immediately fell in love.
