If you’re going to retire early, one of the 10 best states to retire to is North Dakota.
That’s according to research conducted by life insurance agency Haven Life.
The company focused on categories such as well being, cost of living and health care, and then broke each category into subcategories.
When all the data was compiled and scored, North Dakota came out 4th in the nation for best retirement states.
“At first glance, North Dakota might seem like an unlikely choice for retirees, but the state offers many benefits, including terrific health care, low crime rates, and low income and property taxes,” Haven Life reports. “Additionally, despite its small population of 755,393, North Dakota is ranked ninth for access to entertainment and recreational activities.”
Haven Life also found that, of those who retire in or to North Dakota, the city of retirement choice is Grand Forks.
The top state ranked for best retirement place: Idaho.
